A New Horror: Joblessness
Ahh the joys of a jobless recovery. As promised while those who have nice big 401(k)s are experience an increase in net worth, those of us who, you know, work aren't having such fun. I'm glad to know that the investment bankers are experiencing portfolio growth, but given a pair of decades in which real wages have risen not a whit, I'm more than a little ready to hear about what we're doing to create jobs.
I'm not big on expanding bureaucracy, but this article on the long term jobless has made me start thinking that we might need more "make work" jobs until the economy really gets going again. I watch the liberal media, but I'm a believer in the free market. That being said, I don't want to see a generation that doesn't know how to work, or doesn't believe that they can. I'm ready for a jobs bill. We probably should have done it in with stimulus.
